Hi Andrew! Indeed, the order can feel overwhelming at first! Nice site, by the way. Fantastic content! That's always the key. So long as you're making content distribution your first mission in life, the rest of the efforts -- like SEO and email marketing -- will be that much stronger! Thanks for your comment. You definitely have the three qualities noted above, but the looks of your blog/site. Nice work!

Interesting topic. Some of the challenges I see are knowing what to do in what order. Is it website first, then blog, then write some books, then write and publish articles, then add a squeeze page to collect email addresses, then add SEO, then add analyze it all and work out what you need to do better...and still run your business. :) Thank goodness its all fun and learning.

Oh you are DEFINITELY ahead of the curve, Dan! And, hey, I'm still learnin' like everyone else. It's all about *where* we are on that learning curve. I'll connect with you on Twitter! I love your text in your "About" copy: "...how all that we do, think, and plan stems from our ability to communicate." -- So very true. Great posts that draw in the analogies!

For what it's worth, I'd been looking at blogging for years and really felt like an outsider, because I like to write but couldn't get started. Then this young lady, a runner and blogger in NYC, shared with me what was the secret. She blogs about running and food, her passions in life. And that's how it all started. http://livinginlanguage.blogspot.com/

Compared to you I'm a rookie... but I'm learning. We do twitter as well... and of course Facebook... and LinkedIn...

Lot's to learn yet... but we are ahead of the curve... I think????

Exactly, Dan, without that passion it can be a real chore. I like your point about weaving in other passions, as well. There are so many parallels and anecdotes we can weave in from the other parts of our lives...and that gives the reader a great feel for the author's personality and life outside of the blog!

Becoming a blogger is simply a case of writing about what you are passionate about. Discover your passion and the words and ideas begin to flow. I write a blog called Living In Language... and regularly write about languag and communication. Also, since I'm passionate about athletics, health and working out, I weave those topics into the mix.
