The New Character Making a Splash on Twitter

Shamu_Tweets2We took a break today and went to Sea World in Orlando. The highlight of the day? Learning that Shamu actually Tweets! (Yes, this may mean that I need a life). So… what do I do in the middle of Sea World on our day “off?” I begin Tweeting with a whale to get a feel for his Twitter persona.

Turns out that @Shamu is actually quite funny and making a sizable splash on Twitter. He’s poking fun at folks (even egging `em on to sit in the splash zone), educating us on fun wildlife facts and even giving out free sweatshirts to his favorite Tweeps.

So…who thinks to look for a whale on Twitter? No one. Sea World—being the awesome marketers that they are—posted Shamu’s Twitter ID on the giant screen that sits center stage for his “Believe” show. No Shamu shyness here!

So tell us…have you run across a Tweeter, Blogger or Facebooker who represents a character versus a human being? Did you find them believable or contrived?

Update 11/25: Shamu apparently likes the attention. Gotta love him!
